MUNJENS RAN GOAL-FRENZY IN SEASON STARTER

MPFC 10-0 KLFC
MPFC arrived 15 minutes late for the match which all would have thought to be postponed. Traffic problems cited the main reason by team skipper Wee Yang for their late arrival. With their opponents, Kick Leg FC (KLFC) from their rival territory of tampines all kit up for the match, MPFC was given a clear warning by match officials that 10 minutes was all that was given before the match would be forfeited to KLFC.

Despite not having a proper warm up session, MPFC got off to a buzzing start, belittling their much "fiercer look" opponents. With only less than a minute into the match, MPFC had their first chance on goal by Adrian with a shot that went agonizingly over the bar.

Five minutes later, a nice work down the flank by Firdaus and Nallu saw Nallu's cross meeting the head of Adrian's which everyone have thought would break the deadlock. Unfortunately, the ball clipped the right upright and out for a goalkick.

Seeing that KLFC was pretty weak in almost all areas - a bipolar of their kao pe looks - MPFC started gaining momentum and charge all round the field.

A left cross by Terence saw a defending blunder by KLFC which led to Adrian easily tapping home the first goal.

The second was to follow minutes later when a failed clearance from KLFC's defenders saw the ball landing straight into Lucien's path who smashed the ball with his left foot, only
for the goalkeeper to parry the ball into his own net. An earlier call for offside was flagged down by match officials.

As the game came close to half time, a deflected shot by Nallu saw the ball rolling into Haris' path for him to strike the third goal of the game.

Half time score MPFC 3-0 KLFC.

As the second half restarted, fatigue on KLFC'S faces were clear that they could only hang for for awhile. An early corner by MPFC saw a Nallu finishing off low after a goalmouth scramble where Chris could have got his first goal since joining MPFC blocked away.

Floodgates have now opened as MPFC started playing with much more flair from flank to flank.

Occasional attacks by KLFC were easily subdued by the defence and keeper/skipper Wee Yang who had a relatively easy game.

Goals that followed in the 2nd half were from (not in any order) - Haris(2), Lucien(1), Adrian (1), Firdaus (1), Darius (1).

It was a difficult task for the referee to keep track of the scores that he had to consult individual players on the number of goals they eached scored after the match.

Post match interview with MPFC team skipper, Wee Yang, revelaed that he was a very relieved man to have finally kept a clean sheet for MPFC which tehy have failed quite terribly for the last season. He added that most of his players have benefited from their service training and that it was an added boost to the club's overall performance.

"The atmosphere in the Munjen camp is now very high and full of confidence. Everyone has played well and played their part in this season opener victory. The defence have improved drastically with solid commanding by Darius.

"I have to comment that the man of the match today should rightly go to Nallu who has poked his toe almost all round the field and in providing several crucial balls to his team mates.

"Overall I am pleased with the performance and may this be a good warm up for next's week match."

The match ball however was not presented to Haris as the ball needed to be used in another game tomorrow due to lack of logistics at the current moment.

The general atmosphere around the fans now is abig sigh of relieved and rejuvenated hope of MPFC finally getting into pole position, a true reflection of the quality of the team.
